Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Looking for a natural way to refresh your skin and restore a youthful glow? PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy is a cutting-edge treatment that uses your body’s own healing power to improve skin texture, tone, and elasticity. At The Dermatology Group, our expert providers offer PRP treatments as part of our advanced cosmetic dermatology services.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous blood product, meaning it's obtained from the patient's own blood. It is strategically reintroduced or applied to the skin for various treatments. PRP harnesses the power of platelets, which are rich in beneficial growth factors. These concentrated growth factors have been shown to enhance blood flow and stimulate hair and collagen growth, among other rejuvenating effects.

At our practice, we offer PRP for three primary purposes:

Scalp injections for hair regrowth:

Clinical studies support the benefits of PRP injections, combined with medical management, for certain types of non-scarring hair loss, specifically male and female pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). Some research even suggests that PRP may yield better outcomes than traditional medical treatments (1). The procedure is straightforward and requires no downtime. We perform a simple in-office blood draw, process it in a centrifuge, and then the doctor carefully injects the concentrated platelets into the areas of the scalp experiencing the most significant hair loss. For optimal results, we recommend treatments once a month for three months, followed by maintenance sessions every six to nine months.

Under eye rejuvenation:
Many patients are concerned about fine lines, loose skin, and sun damage around their eyes. PRP offers a minimally invasive solution for rejuvenating this delicate area. Studies have demonstrated increased skin firmness and elasticity following a series of under-eye PRP treatments (2). We typically recommend monthly sessions for three months to achieve the best results.

"Vampire facial" (with microneedling):
Microneedling creates tiny microchannels in the skin, triggering a controlled healing response that boosts collagen production, reduces pigmentation issues, and improves the appearance of scars. While microneedling usually involves an inert gel to help the device glide smoothly, incorporating PRP can significantly enhance its benefits, particularly in stimulating collagen synthesis.

Our practice utilizes the FDA-approved Crown Aesthetics Progen PRP system.
