About Us

Practice Policy

Our Mission
Our primary goal is to achieve the highest quality of service, satisfaction and sensitivity in the delivery of dermatological care. Our patients are the focus of our existence, and we make every effort to employ our skills for their medical benefit without regard to professional or personal gain. We commit ourselves to strive to become the premiere providers of dermatological care, specializing in skin cancer in the Central Florida area.

Offices
Our practice offers four locations, Longwood, Mt. Dora, Orlando and Winter Park. You may choose the office most convenient to you.

Appointments
You may call the office at the desired location to schedule an appointment. We make every effort to see you at your scheduled time, so please arrive promptly. Our office visits are by appointment only. However, emergencies will be addressed that day. We would appreciate at least a 24 hour notice of cancellation or change in appointment so that your appointment time can be given to another patient.

Telephone Calls
During regular office hours our nursing and secretarial staff will be happy to take your calls. In general, our nursing and secretarial staff schedule time at the end of each day to return non-urgent phone calls and phone-in prescriptions. However, if you have an urgent problem, please indicate to the receptionist or nurse that the problem is urgent.

Medicare Patients
We are pleased to be participating providers with Medicare. We will submit Medicare claims and we do accept assignment. Medicare patients are responsible for the applicable deductible plus 20% of the amount that Medicare approves, as well as any services not covered. Secondary insurance will be filed for you, if applicable. If you are a member of a Medicare HMO, please check with our office to see if we are providers for that plan. If we are, the Medicare HMO insurance is billed just like Medicare.

Night & Weekend Coverage
One of us will always be on call every night and every weekend. In case of an emergency, such as a reaction to medication prescribed by us, infection of a surgical site or bleeding from a surgical site, call our office number immediately.

Specialties

Our physicians specialize in surgical dermatology and the treatment of benign and malignant skin growths. While it is our belief that we are well-trained and experts in all areas of dermatology and skin surgery, there are several areas of dermatology which are of special interest to us:

Skin Cancer
There are many types and severities of skin cancers. We are well trained in numerous techniques, both nonsurgical and surgical, including Mohs Micrographic surgery. It is not always necessary for a skin cancer to be "cut out". In some cases, cryotherapy (freezing) is more appropriate, or some other method may better meet the patient's need. We can effectively treat the vast majority of skin cancers in the office without necessitating expensive hospitalization. When a skin cancer is diagnosed, we will always discuss the recommended treatment and all possible alternatives with you.

Dermatopathology
Dermatopathology is a sub-specialty of both dermatology and pathology in which biopsy specimens taken from the skin are interpreted microscopically. Dr. Michael Henner is Board Certified both as a Dermatologist and a Dermatopathologist. His reliance on clinical-pathologic correlation affords the patient the most precise diagnosis.

Mohs Micrographic Surgery
Dr. Robert Demetrius, Dr. Kemka Ogburia and Dr. Saqib Ahmed have advanced fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. This is a highly specialized and innovative skin cancer treatment which aims to remove all cancer cells while preserving as much normal skin as possible. With cure rates of up to 98%, this procedure is especially beneficial for the treatment of skin cancers occurring on the nose, ear, around the eyes, or recurrent and large skin cancers.

General Dermatology
Our providers specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of adolescent and adult dermatologic conditions such as acne, contact dermatitis, common rashes, psoriasis, warts, and dermatologic conditions affecting our female patients. We also offer Blu-Lite for the state of the art treatment of actinic keratoses.

Cosmetic Dermatology
Our providers are pleased to offer many minor cosmetic procedures to our patients. These include mild and medium-depth chemical peels, Blu-Lite treatments for acne, sclerotherapy, laser surgery, rhinophyma surgical correction, and Botox. We also offer a carefully selected line of skin care products including Rhonda Allison, SkinMedica, EltaMD Sun Protection Products, and Latisse. We are very excited to be able to provide these rejuvenating treatments to our dedicated patients.

Payment & Insurance

For routine office visits and minor procedures, payment is expected at the time of service. Payment may be made by cash, check, VISA, American Express, Discover or MasterCard.

If we participate with your insurance plan, we will file all claims according to our contract with them. If we do not participate with your insurance plan, we will provide you with the necessary information for you to file your claim. Even though your insurance plan may cover a portion or all of your medical expenses, the responsibility for payment of fees is the direct obligation of the patient or responsible party. Insurance companies do vary tremendously in the percentage of the fee they allow. Our fees are usual and customary for this area.

We are committed to providing the finest in quality dermatological care, and we share your concern about the costs involved. As a result, we participate in many of the managed care programs in the Central Florida area.

We have found the participation and the structure of HMOs and PPOs change from time to time. Please check with us periodically to see if we currently participate in your plan. Be sure to bring the required authorization to cover each visit where applicable. Without this authorization, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment.

If you are on a PPO or HMO that our office is contracted with, your co-payment and/or unmet deductible will be due at the time of service. We also have staff trained in insurance, who will be happy to answer questions or assist you in any way.
